Cody, approx 9 weeks old

Cody lives in Tucson, Arizona with his mother and a very silly 8 year old tuxedo cat. Born around July 4^th, 2004, the first few weeks of his life remain a mystery.  After a short time in the Humane Society of Southern Arizona Cody was adopted on September 19.

Cody’s mom had been given a gift certificate to the Humane Society from her friends Debbie and Pierre DeSalles after her dog Loki died, and decided to go see if there was someone else that could join the family. One of the few dogs not to be barking and making a fuss, this seemingly mellow puppy just rested as if waiting for a ride home.  After inquiring about Milo, as he was originally called, Cody’s future mom was told he was already on hold for another family.  Two hours later she returned with a friend because she couldn’t get the little teddy bear dog out of her head.  His new family had not shown up yet.  After hearing her say, “If that was going to be my new puppy, I would have been here before the doors opened” the shelter employee said to a fellow staff member, “let her take the dog to the meet & greet area.”

Cody was hell on paws as a puppy.  A great lover of literature, he ate the corners of books, magazines and correspondence.  His poddler months were even more tempestuous, but soon, under the guidance of trainer Debora Hogan, it was discovered that Cody Bear was flippin’ bored and he loved to learn new things.  Before they knew it, Cody was proving himself to be a canine genius.

As a poddler (puppy + toddler), 4 months old

Cody loves kids, loves walking in between friends legs and enjoys stepping on small dogs.  He rests much of the time, as thinking wears him out greatly.  While not fond of riding in the car, he enjoys arriving places.  Like many Hollywood stars, Cody has a slight eating disorder, but he is overcoming it very well.  He loves playing with squeaky toys, running as fast as possible for no reason and learning new things.
